We at AABR certainly felt the immense tragedy of the COVID-19 Pandemic firsthand. Now, as the world opens up again and the individuals of AABR begin to get back out into the world, the rippling waves created by the cost of COVID are devastating us financially. We need your help covering the immense expense of replacing furniture, beds, windows, and so much more throughout our residences.
Funds initially allocated for the typical wear and tear of our residences had to be used to cover the incredible unexpected costs of COVID. Now, those funds are gone. However, the expenses of maintaining safe and healthy homes for our individuals haven't gone anywhere. In fact, they have only gotten far more severe.
During most of the nearly two years of the Pandemic, the individuals didn't just spend a lot of time at home; they spent all of their time at home. They went from spending half of their days at Day Programs and enjoying free time out in the community to 24-hours a day, every single day, in their residences. The use of furniture and appliances more than doubled. This took a toll, and now our couches, chairs, tables, and other furniture and equipment have terribly depreciated due to overuse. It all needs to be either fixed or replaced.
